Presented below position Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church on developments these recent of România on the reception of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church(Crete, 2016):
In the working session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, met under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, on December 16, 2016 , in Room Synod of the Patriarchal Residence, has noted with dismay the recent developments in Romania to negative reactions on reception of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church (Crete, 2016).
Another Opinion to the Fray (Some initial thoughts) Hagiographos Elias Damianakis, Archon Maestor I have read on more than one occasion the call for ridding the church of its liturgical language. Not only here on America but also in Greece and Russia. The conversation is not unique to us in the States. In Greece the concern is which dialect to use and/or what form of Greek to use: Ancient or modern. Blaming the dwindling numbers to the use of Liturgical language. Similarly, in America, substituting one liturgical language for another whether it be Greek, Russian, Serbian… for all English. Some blaming the decline in participation on unattainable comprehension due to a foreign language. Making assumptions based on statistics and polls. Yesterday I was at the feast of St Nicholas in Tarpon Springs, Florida and attended the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy served by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta and Tampa Bay clergy. The Cathedral was overflowing with faithful.
Something caught my attention and distracted me from my prayers, Fr Emmanuel Hatzidakis. |
