We are all aware of the existence of spam, Russian bots, foreign interference in elections, and China’s cyberthefts... Yet when it comes to faith, we naïvely assume Orthodoxy is not under attack. Nevertheless, it is, and the sinister menace is closer than you might think.

It is not righteousness that fuels these internet personalities, its obsequious notoriety.

Case in point the Moscow Patriarchate.
Orthodox Christians are unaware of the cyber-tactics employed by the Kremlin based church. Putin’s Russia uses the willing local Moscow Patriarchate as a propaganda outlet. And it seems Patriarch Cyril is up to the task.

Moscow’s abject hypocrisy is so apparent its contemptible. Patriarch Cyril’s disgraceful penetration violations are new in Orthodox history. The Kremlin’s ecclesiastic mendacities and audacious assaults on the Canons are so extreme one cannot deem “the use of lies so ‘colossal’ that no one would believe that someone ‘could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously."

The Russian Church has attained große Lüge.

The Kremlin based church subsidizes leading religious propaganda conduits out of monasteries, in and around the Kremlin. Russian propagandist exists among the hierarchy, clergy, and monastic webmasters as I presented in Profiles in Russian Propaganda. Among the most egregious collaborators include Metropolitan Tikhon Shevkunov of Pravoslavi, Abbess Cornilias Rees of OrthoChristian, Fr Peter Heers of Orthodox Ethos, and Metropolitan Luke of Zaporoshye. All these ambassadors-of-discord are coordinated by, the ironically dubbed “Maestro” Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev the Kremlin Orthodox Department of External and Foreign Affairs.

The Moscow Patriarchate would simply like the Ecumenical Patriarchate to evaporate so it can galvanize and absorb the leadership position in world Orthodoxy. Short of this ambition, the Moscow Patriarch has of late simply erased any liability and encroached beyond all ecclesiological and canonical boundaries and maniacally under the guise of defending Orthodoxy.

This is nothing new in Russia, as I surveyed in Moscow Patriarchate's Unbridled Expansionism. The perversion of ecclesial truths for political return always existed in the Rus’ mentality. The Kremlin intimidates with threats of schism, a phronema of disunity. The un-Orthodox strong-arming threat of schism exploited by Moscow to instill anxiety in the faithful contradicting the scriptures:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving
-Philippians 4:6
Let us understand the ecclesiastic term schism. It takes two to schism. Even the so-called Great Schism of 1054 was a “mutual excommunication” not a solitary break as in Moscow.

A one-sided non-commemoration is analogous to an “ecclesiastic hissy-fit.” Accordingly, if “a schismatic is a person who creates or incites schism” it is only Patriarch Cyril and his cohorts who are schismatic.

The anti-canonical ecclesiastical Fascistic invasions by the Patriarchate of Moscow continue around the Globe. World Orthodox hierarchy and leadership seemingly cower to these aggressions in their silence. In 2020 the Kremlin based church illegally and unilaterally invaded many territories beyond its own territorial integrity: Georgia, Crimea, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Northern Cyprus, Asia Minor and countless additional incursions.

Yet the conspiracy theorist extraordinaire Metropolitan Hilarion constantly accuses Patriarch Bartholomew of various transgressions of which only Patriarch Cyril and the Russian church are guilty.

Recently the Kremlin’s Moscow based church has intensified their annexation efforts. On January 14, 2021 “The Patriarchate of Georgia demanded explanations from the Patriarchate of Moscow for the performance of a Divine Liturgy at the Tskhinvali Holy Trinity Cathedral by a clergyman of the Russian Church.”

In Turkey, the ancient and historic ecclesiastic territory of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, in the last weeks without the blessing of the local church authorities Muscovite clergy have:

January 7, Russian Orthodox celebrate Old Calendar Christmas in Turkey,
services were held in Constantinople, Antalya, and Smyrna.
January 8, Russian clergyman officiated in the city of Eskişehir (near Ankara).
January 11, Russian clergyman officiated a service was held in Samsu,
January 12, Russian clergyman officiated services were held in Kuşadası,
January 13, Russian clergyman officiated services were held in Smyrna…

2021 has just begun and Patriarch Cyril has orchestrated numerous violations with such impudence and such ostentatious distinction, one questions where and when the hierarchy of the church will speak up.
First, they came for Crimea, and
I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Crimean.

Then they came for Georgia, and
I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Georgian.

Then they came for the Greeks, and
I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Greek.

Then they came for me—and
there was no one left to speak for me.

Adapted from "First they came..." the poetic form of a post-war confessional prose
by the German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984).
